Founded in 1976 by Bob Shearing and Graeme Marshall, the business began as a small concrete paving company focused on delivering quality driveways and paving solutions throughout Christchurch. Working from modest beginnings with just a single truck and loader, the company quickly built a reputation for reliable workmanship, honesty, and exceptional service. 

As demand grew, so did the business. In 1978, Shearing’s expanded into the swimming pool industry through Mayfair Pools Canterbury, adding another specialist service to its growing range of capabilities. Over the following decades, the company continued to invest in people, equipment, and expertise, expanding into earthmoving, drainage, site works, civil construction, driveways, paving, and swimming pool construction. 

Bob’s son, Scott Shearing joined the team in 1992, continuing the strong family values that remain at the heart of the business today. What started as a small local operation has grown into one of Canterbury’s leading contracting companies, supported by a modern fleet of machinery and an experienced team capable of delivering projects of all sizes.

While much has changed since 1976, our commitment to quality workmanship, trusted relationships, and outstanding customer service remains the same.
